There is a saying in Bengali "Bharo Maansh Tero Parbon" meaning in twelve months there are thirteen festivals. Each festival is more community based and the whole locality celebrates the festival together. Makeshift prayer Pandal (Structure) with beautiful architecture and theme are built. Lights, decorations and the entire ritual of bringing in the god, prayer offering, and finally bidding goodbye to her is an unique experience. Added to that is ambience of carnival, dance, music and several cultural shows. 

After all the traditional Hindu festival, the city of Kolkata, changes fast into its British culture to celebrate the New year.
